The Dancing Planets

The Dancing Planets are a vehicle for engagement and intentionality. Where traditional coloring books offer illustrations that are decipherable at first glance, within this space, much like a Rorschach test, these playful forms are presented to evoke wonder and inquiry. Every page is offered as an activity spanning 30 minute to 3 hours in duration, making each world a puzzle to be solved, and a game to be play.

Here are kind examples of playful shapes from the series. Take a look, these figures are truly determined by the viewer. All drawings are completed free-hand, without sketching or concept, so that each manifestation would remain as explorative and earnest as possible.

Embark on a colorist’s adventure. 33 little worlds await your markers and pencils. Locally printed through Short Run Press in Phoenix, Arizona, every drawing is provided on single-sided, 100 lb. paper for best quality, and to prevent bleed.

The Dancing Planets,’ books are 8.5 x 11 inches for portability, and spiral bound at the top, so not to impede left or right-handed colorists. By design, each volume begins with a practice page so you may test your materials with confidence.

Color, meditate, and frame these whimsical creatures as your own!

The Dancing Planets Workshop Series

The screens turn off, and the minds turn on. Quiet stretches occur. Other times, banter breaks out; stories are shared, questions are asked . . . and a calmness arrives. By highlighting the natural world’s ‘quirky side,’ much like the puzzle games children and teens are familiar with digitally, youths and adults may immerse themselves amongst these playful shapes with equally inquisitive eyes. Bryson provides an introduction to color and form, along with coloring books and sets of fine markers for participants to keep and enjoy!
